While most of the routes are on dedicated Rails to Trails path, there are a fews things to keep in mind for safety.

  • Foothills trail is very easy to follow
  • Take it for granted that cars won't be alert at crossings
  • Return points are easy to determine
  • Roads to Pinnacle Peak Park usually have light traffic
  • Route leaders and sweepers can help with directions

Most bicycles in good working condition is suitable. E-bikes are welcome on all routes.

  • Road bikes, hybrid bikes, and e-bikes all suitable
  • Ensure brakes and tires are in good condition
  • Helmet required for all participants
  • Rear flashing lights recommended for safety

Foothill Trial is a Rails to Trails project. Expect a large number of pedestrians

  • Always yield to pedestrians on shared paths and trails.
  • A calm, friendly โ€œOn your leftโ€ or โ€œPassing on your leftโ€ works well.
  • E-bike riders must slow down and give them ample space.
  • On crowded paths, reduce your speed and be patient.
  • If riding with others, be mindful of blocking the path by riding side-by-side.
