Season 4 Focus Areas
ποΈ Building Local Communities
Cycling Over Sixty is a focused on building local communities. Starting in Tacoma, Washington, we're helping to develop a collaborative model for giving people an in-person support network.
Our Community Goals:
- Create in-person support networks for cycling later in life
- Develop a replicable model for other communities
- Promote the bicycle as a device to achieve more vibrant living
- Foster connections between like-minded individuals
π CAAN -Tacoma
Cycling Over Sixty is helping to launch the Cycling for Active Aging Network. CAAN is designed to remove barriers so that inactive people over 55 can experience the fun of biking to stay fit. The program is about "Exercise as Medicine" and the "Bike as a Medical Device." CAAN provides the opportunity for Cycling Over Sixty to focus on a specific element of our community building β a focus on previously inactive older adults. Cycling Over Sixty is excited to help make this an impactful program in Tacoma and to help the CAAN model, once fully developed, spread to other communities.
