Event Description

The Cycling Over Sixty Ride is our end-of-season annual celebration of cycling. This inaugural event presents an opportunity to connect with other riders who are using cycling to stay fit later in life.

Whether you're looking for a leisurely pedal through picturesque landscapes or a more challenging ride, you'll find it here. Beyond the saddle, enjoy a post ride program with a guest speaker and the chance to share stories with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

However, we require registration to help us plan for the right number of participants and ensure we have adequate support for everyone.

Route Information

All routes utilize the beautiful Foothills Trail that runs through the scenic Orting Valley. Choose the distance that matches your fitness level and goals:

🟢 30-Miles

Easy

Distance: 30 miles Out and Back

Terrain: Flat, paved trail

Perfect for: Beginners, casual riders, or those seeking a relaxed pace

Elevation: Minimal elevation gain

🟡 40-Miles

Moderate

Distance: 40 miles Out and Back

Terrain: Includes 4.3-mile railroad grade climb

Highlight: Climb out of the valley up to Buckley

Elevation: Moderate climbing challenge

🔴 Metric Century

Moderate

Distance: 63 miles (100km)

Route: East Puyallup Trailhead → Buckley → Pinnacle Peak Park Roundtrip

Features: New White River and Spiketon Ditch bridges, flat roads around Pinnacle Peak

For: Experienced cyclists seeking a longer challenge

Event Schedule

Time Activity Notes
8:00 AM Check-in Opens Please check for any last-minute updates and route information
8:30 AM Warm-Up Activity Join our fitness trainer for a session to prepare you for a great ride
9:00 AM Official Ride Start Metric Century riders depart first, followed by shorter routes
5:00 PM Event Area Closes Ride support sweepers will check in with any riders still on the trail.

Event Logistics

🍽️ Food and Water

This is not a fully supported ride. Food and water are available for purchase at various points along the trail.

Please bring: Your own water bottles for refilling throughout the ride.

🏨 Where to Stay

If you are joining us from out of town there are limited accommodation options in the Puyallup area. Send an email and we will help you find a place to stay.

🌦️ Weather Information

Rain or Shine Event! Monitor forecasts and dress appropriately.

September Weather: Average highs around 70°F with mild conditions and potential for rain.

Severe weather notifications will be sent via email and posted on our website.

🚘 Parking

East Puyallup Trailhead: There is space to park at the trailhead. However, on a Sunday morning the lot might be full. There is also parking next to the trailhead, across from Farm 12.

Pioneer Crossing: At the corner of Shaw Road and Pioneer Way E there is a shopping center.

⚡ E-Bikes Welcome

E-bikes are welcome on all routes! We believe in making cycling accessible to everyone.

Important: Ensure your e-bike is fully charged - no provided charging stations available on course.

Safety: Maintain safe speeds and be mindful when passing traditional cyclists.
